Preservation Pitch

Preserving Local Communities

Each year, we provide an opportunity for community members statewide to pitch a historic preservation project at our Virginia Preservation Conference.

Anyone can submit a pitch, including individuals, government agencies, historical societies, historic property owners, etc. in order to compete for $2,000 in seed money at the Virginia Preservation Conference Friday, October 6 at Union Train Station in Petersburg.

Past winners of the Preservation Pitch include The Edith Bolling Wilson Birthplace Museum and Louisa County Historical Society

Here’s How It Works

Think of a preservation project in your area that you are passionate about and believe is deserving of funding. Then, submit a PowerPoint presentation to Justin Sarafin, jsarafin@preservationvirginia.org, explaining why we should select your project (PowerPoint presentations can take only 3.5 minutes to present).

The Preservation Pitch committee will review all of the presentations and pick three finalists to present their pitches during a reception at the conference.

Reception attendees will vote for their favorite pitch to determine the winner.

All application materials, including a registration fee of $25, must be submitted by Friday, August 25, 2017
